Help - Search history
The Search history pages list all searches executed in
AFI Catalog during a single session.
Each Search history page summarises and numbers each of your
searches and indicates the number of records found by that
search. Each time a new search is executed, it will be
numbered and added to the top of the list in chronological
order.
A "no records" page will inform you if you don't have any
search history stored. There is no limit to the number of
entries in the Search history. If more than 25 searches have
been performed in a single session, navigation links (ie. 1 |
2 | 3 ) will appear. The most recent searches will always be
on the first page of the history, and old searches will
appear at the end.
From the Search history page you can:
- re-execute a search - To re-execute a search, click
the linked text in the Search Terms section of the
list. The relevant Search results page will be displayed.
- refine a search - To refine a search, click on the
refine search link in the column next to the search
terms you want to refine. The relevant search page will be displayed,
where you can add or remove search terms, as required.
Please note it is not possible to refine a combined search.
- combine previous searches - Use the Combining
searches feature to combine searches already in the Search
history list using the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. Enter the
numbers of the two searches you would like to combine, select the required
Boolean operator and click the Combine button. The
relevant Search results will be displayed, and the combined search will
be added to the corresponding Search history page.
- clear the history list - To clear all the searches
listed, click the clear search history link at the
top of the page.
Note: Each Search history page is only
retained for a single user session, and so any information recorded there
will be lost once you exit AFI Catalog.
To keep a more permanent record of your searches, we
recommend that you print out the relevant Search history page
before exiting.
